"The Beach" is the story of a young man, Richard (Leonardo DiCaprio) whom is on vacation in Thailand. While there, he primarily stays at lower end hotels and therefore runs into some shady characters. One of these is another young man whom advises him about a secret "beach" on an island. When the shady character dies suddenly due to suicide, Richard decides that life is short and he should take the shot to find this mythical place. he joins up with a young french couple that he meets, by the names of Francoise (Virginie Ledoyen) and Etienne (guillaume Canet) and off they go to find the beach. Onec they arrive, they are not met quitely warmly, as the "residents" of the beach, led by Sal (Tilda Swinton) have been told by the natives of the island that they may stay, but no more may join. Reluctantly they warm up to the three, and life begins.
